As the UK’s largest funder of projects tackling loneliness, the National Lottery has given £6 million to more than 400 projects tackling loneliness and social isolation across England since the lockdown began.

Awards made by The National Lottery Community Fund in Bracknell have helped to keep people connected and supported those at risk of becoming lonely.

In May, The National Lottery Community Fund awarded £17,240 to community projects in the Bracknell Constituency.

One of the projects funded is Sebastian’s Action Trust in Crowthorne, who through the pandemic are still working to provide emergency support to vulnerable families. The funding from the National Lottery is being used to support families and young people who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions by shopping for vital food and medical supplies, which is delivered to families on a weekly basis. The team also provide activity bags for seriously ill children to help alleviate the stress and boredom of being locked down. Sebastian’s Action Trust aims to support families by providing emotional and practical support.
