Statement on Sandhurst Group Practice

James Sunderland comments on the recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection of the Sandhurst Group Practice.

“I was shocked to the read the article below in respect of the recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection of the Sandhurst Group Practice.  Having fielded correspondence from worried constituents in recent months, not least about waiting times, poor service, delays in test results and availability of face to face GP appointments, I am deeply concerned by what now appears to have materialised.

“Not only have constituents been absolutely justified in representing their concerns to me, but I am also disappointed that Frimley Integrated Care System (ICS) has seen fit not to inform me, engage with me or even share the report before it appeared in the media.  This should not have come as a surprise to anyone, least of all to Bracknell Forest Council and the local MP.

“The ‘Inadequate’ Rating is also unacceptable, particularly when Frimley ICS is deemed to be one of the best-perfoming health care providers in the UK.  Since being made aware of the report, I have requested an urgent meeting with its management team, will raise the issue directly with the Department of Health and Social Care and will be seeking clear assurances on what is now being done to put this right.

“I would like to thank all those who have got in touch with me in recent months and I offer my sincere apology for the inconvenience, frustration and anxiety suffered by many.  I would also like to recognise the valiant efforts undertaken by the medical and support staff at the Sandhurst Group in the face of chronic under-resourcing and poor management.  It is now time to put this right.”
