James Sunderland comments on the election of Rishi Sunak as the new Leader of the Conservative Party.
“I am delighted today that Rishi Sunak has been elected as the new Leader of the Conservative Party. Notwithstanding the protracted nature of the leadership contest, there is no question that he has secured the support of the overwhelming majority of the Parliamentary Party and has a clear mandate to lead. Given the challenges that lie ahead, I am confident that we will now come together as a party to work on solving them, particularly in growing our economy, providing financial stability and supporting families with the cost of living crisis.
“As a unified party, we will also do what is necessary to deliver the best policies for the people of the UK as we head towards the next General Election. And as a proud local champion, I will continue to work as hard as I can for the people of Bracknell Constituency.”
