Record numbers of police in Thames Valley

James Sunderland chats with Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner at Great Hollands Pavilion.

Matthew Barber talks about breaking the 5,000 mark for the first time in Thames Valley. We now have 5,034 police officer across Thames Valley which is 500 more that we had back in 2010, a record number.

The number of officers in visible neighbourhood policing roles is to be doubled.

Matthew says:

“So not only are they out there, you're going to be seeing more of them over the coming year. And PCSOs, as well, a really important part of local neighbourhood policing. We're recruiting more of them, many of them have joined up as PCs.”
