James Sunderland MP has congratulated Bracknell Forest Council on being named as the ‘ninth least wasteful town’.
James said:
“Well done to all at Bracknell Forest Council and their partners re3 Recycling. I congratulate recycling champion Cllr Dorothy Hayes MBE, Executive Lead for the Environment at Bracknell Forest Council and all residents of the borough for their diligence in recycling as much as they can.
Cllr Dorothy Hayes MBE, Executive Member for Environment and local recycling champion, said:
“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted listed as the ninth least wasteful town in the UK.
"Our residents deserve a huge well done, as this achievement has really been earnt by them.
"Over 5,000 tonnes of food waste has been saved from being sent to landfill in just 10 months.
"By introducing weekly food waste collections, we have been able to reduce general waste collections and have seen a significant decrease in the amount of general waste being generated and collected.
"That combined with the new rule at our bottle banks which eradicates the need for separating glass bottles by colour due to new colour sorting technology, recycling has never been easier.
"This really shows the compassion and respect our residents have for the borough and its environment, and we urge them to keep up the good work!”
