Bracknell Constituency, MP James Sunderland has welcomed that communities across Berkshire have so far received extra funding of £378 million in Government funding since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Across the country, local authorities have been bolstered by £27 billion emergency funding to support rough sleepers, businesses rates relief, grants for small businesses and local transport systems. Additionally, local authorities have received £3.8 billion to ensure local social care is adequately resourced to deal with increased pressures.
This has meant local councils have had the resources they need to respond to any additional pressures created by coronavirus and been able to continue providing essential services, such as adult social care and children’s services.
Bracknell Constituency, MP James Sunderland, said:
“I am proud of the Government’s scale and scope of support for our Local Authorities. It is very welcome here in Bracknell and Wokingham where our well run councils have worked so hard to support all those in need.
“As we slowly return to normality, it is ever more important that our Local Authorities are bolstered so they can continue their fantastic work at the heart of our communities – thank you to everyone working at our local Councils.”
James continues to focus his efforts on supporting constituents throughout the pandemic and remains committed to securing a fair funding for Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Councils.
