Local MP James Sunderland welcomed Defence Secretary Ben Wallace MP to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst this week for the Academy Media Day and received a surprise gift in return.

Afterwards, James said:

“Back in 1993, I commissioned from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst but never actually received my signed scroll from Her Majesty the Queen. I enquired about it over the years but it never materialised and was long forgotten.

“I had the privilege this week of welcoming Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, to Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for the Academy Media Day. Almost 30 years after marching up the steps, and to my astonishment, he presented me with my original certificate, signed by Her Majesty, which had somehow been found. Thank you so much to everyone at Sandhurst for a totally unexpected and magical moment!”
