James Sunderland MP graduates from Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme

James Sunderland MP has graduated from the 2020/21 Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS) at a Special Graduation Dinner held last week at the Guards Museum.

The AFPS has been running for 30 years and was set up to help MPs and members of the House of Lords better understand the work of the Armed Forces.  Parliamentarians are attached to a single service and make a minimum commitment of 15 days during the course.

James, who served in the Army for 26 years, was attached to the Royal Navy.  On graduating, he said:

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning more about the Royal Navy and I congratulate all the Trustees on an excellent scheme.  It really does provide MPs with a rare insight into this unique profession.”
