“I was delighted to be invited by Reading FC Community Trust to join their judging panel for this year's Premier League Inspires social action project. This program uses football to inspire young people aged 11-18 and helps them develop personal skills and positive attitudes to achieve success in life.
“Last year Brakenhale School were in the top 5 in the country for their #PLinspires social action project reusing plastic bottles to make bird feeders. You can view the fantastic video produced by the students about their project. Good luck to Garth Hill College in this year's competition.”
Reading FC Community Trust is an independent charitable organisation that works towards bringing the community together through sport. It aims to enrich people's lives from diverse and often disadvantaged backgrounds while building a meaningful connection between the town, its people, and the local football club.
The Trust proudly cares, develops and educates more than 3,500 people each week, of all ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities. Their aim is to make a hugely positive impact on lives; from toddlers enjoying their first introduction to football to our excellent schools provision, from holiday football camps to girls football programmes, from SEND courses to delivering professional coaching qualifications, from a focus on social inclusion initiatives and mentoring schemes to a dedication to equality, diversity and inclusivity within sport we provide for disadvantaged children, to a community of all abilities and disabilities and offer friendship to the elderly.
Partnerships, collaborations, and sponsorship opportunities make much of the Trust's work possible, and those who can lend their support can see almost instantly how rewarding that connection can be in helping to enable a bright future for many people in the community.
