James Sunderland MP visits Guide Dogs for the Blind (Guide Dogs UK) to hear more about their Streets and Spaces campaign.
One of the significant barriers for those who are visually impaired including those with guide dogs is pavement parking and other street clutter, which can result in the guide dog and owner having to risk walking on the road with traffic.
James said:
“I am supporting the Streets and Spaces campaign to standardised law across the England that would make it clear that pavement parking should be the exception, not the norm for motorists. One clear law would give local authorities real power to properly tackle this problem and stop pavement parking unless in a specifically designated area, in line with Greater London. I will be writing to the Secretary of State for Transport to express my support.”
